Reo Doctorate Writing Retreat
Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, School of Indigenous Graduate Studies is hosting a Writing Retreat for reo doctoral students completing their research and thesis in te reo Māori. This will be the first specialised reo retreat of its kind!
Doctoral reo candidates will receive targeted support for their work.
This retreat will encourage reo Māori doctorates to give concentrated writing, research time to advance their thesis chapters, progress potential reo publications, and plan ā-whānau, ā-hapū and ā-iwi wānanga presentations.

- The noho will be led by reo scholars Professor Taiarahia Black, Associate Professor Wayne Ngata and Dr Agnes McFarland. All three reo scholars have all completed doctorates in te reo Māori, have published widely in academic journals, published books, edited reo books and presented at ā-whānau, ā-hapū and ā-iwi Wānanga.
- Sami language scholar Associate Professor Jelena Porsanger will be attending as an international observer and discussant.
- Recently TWWoA signed an MoU with Ngāi Te Rangi reo representative leaders. Ngāi Te Rangi reo leaders will attend the doctorate reo retreat.Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi invites our current enrolled Masters & Doctoral students, prospective post graduate reo students in 2016 and beyond who wish to pursue a doctorate. Come along and observe and participate in this wonderful kaupapa!
