An urgent meeting will be held next month in order to confirm if the largest bi-annual tribal gathering known as Te Hui Ahurei a Tūhoe will be held, or cancel.

The Hui Ahurei a Tūhoe has been running for over fourty years, but according to reports the Tūhoe gathering was to be cancelled.

Tūhoe groups have now called for the delegates under the committee who runs the Ahurei to meet.  An urgent meeting will be held on the 10th of November in Ruatoki to discuss whether the Ahurei is to be cancelled until 2014 or to be held next year during Eastern weekend 2013.
