The Maori Language could disappear if people do not engage in digital devices to learn the maori language and save it.

Dr Rapata Wiri from Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi i Whakatane is adamant about this.

Dr Rapata Wiri said if our people do not use devices over the internet the Maori language will eventually die out over the next generation or two. He said people using devices to learn the maori language like cellphones and Ipods could use Te Pumanawa-The Maori Language and Culture App which can be accessed on www.maori.ac.nz.

This project which Dr Rapata Wiri researched and taught during the last fifteen years that this software has emerged for the Maori Language.

Koinei te whakapae a Takuta Rāpata Wiri no Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi i Whakatane.
