Te Kura Kaupapa Motuhake o Tawhiuau of Ngati Manawa, Murupara officially launched their iwi curriculum document ‘Moku te Awatea’ as part of their recent Matariki celebrations.

‘Moku te Awatea’ has been a long time coming with many wananga held since our opening by the late Parekura Horomia in July 2000.  It is a big relief to finally have it completed.

“As Aotearoa New Zealand’s first designated character school with Ngati Manawatanga as our official designated character, it is obvious that Ngati Manawatanga guides all we do.  It is our essence.”
