The Whakatane District Council will now prepare to build a full sewage treatment system in Matata.

The Matata residents want a full sewage treatment system and the Whakatane District Council will comply. The Council predicts processes will allow the project at $10.85 million to be sorted by December including from the Government and Agencies.

The expected start date for the build is in June 2014. Other issues at hand for contemplation is where the treated sewage will be emptied, it could be on land, it could be by way of the Tarawera River on the outgoing tide or a release outlet off the beach.

All avenues for sewage waste treatment lead to the build of a full treatment system in Matata.
