The Electoral Commission is proposing to change electorates in the Tai Rawhiti including Kawerau, Murupara, Galatea, Paengaroa and Maketu takinga this boundaries from the Rotorua electorate.

Rotorua will get a western section o Te Puke and part o the Western Bay of Plenty. Discussions of the proposed electorate changes will take place either yay or nay and once that is done the results wil be published Thursday April 17.

There is already disention to the proposal with the Murupara Community Board and it Chairman Jacob Kurapa saying Ruatahuna, Murupara, Galatea, Minginui and Te Whaiti must remain with Rotorua but Waiohau can go the East Coast.

Submissions will close at 5pm this afternoon Wednesday 29 Janaury. Consultation with the Electoral Commission and involved electorates will happen from 10-19 February.
