Police were concerned at the way a Ruatoki family were living following an investigation of a 4 month old baby in 2011.
The baby died from suffocation 26 May 2011 was one aspect identified by Rotorua coroner Wallace Bain along with the fact the house was in poor condition a leaking ceiling, rotten walls and cold, and as such the family slept together for comfort resulting in the baby suffocating in his cramped sleeping space.
Police reported the house was kept very tidy by the rain leaked the damaged roof and rotting walls, feeling very sad at the death of the baby and the poverty of family.
