OPOTIKI BLUE MOUNTAINS TRAIL RIDE (TTBRC endorsed)
New trails, 13 km. east of Opotiki off State Highway 35 to Te Kaha.
Follow the sign posts through Opotiki to Old Motu road.
3 km. novice/pee-wee track
20 km. loop/easy
40 km. loop/steeper
Trails including flowing forestry roads, bush tracks, mixture of farmland and native bush. Great views, great country to ride.

Cruise out of Opotiki along the scenic State Highway 35 for 13km before turning right at Waiaua Bridge onto the Motu Road, turn right onto Gaskill road to reach our starting point.
Travel up through farmland for a few kilometres, and from here it’s a nice little grind uphill for approx 5km then the Greenhorns and the Gnarly Old Hands go their own separate ways.
GREENHORNS 20km Trail
Trail on up the Mangakakaho Forestry Road before turning sharp right down King Road. Pick your path following Mangakirikiri down stream or take Valley Station road.
Or take the long way home……
GNARLY OLD HANDS 40 km Advanced ride
For the Gnarly Old Hands your climb has just begun…carry on up the Mangakakaho Forestry Road and head out towards the back of Blue Mountains towards Pakihi. Pick your path following Mangakirikiri down stream or take Valley Station.
Also available will be a pee-wee track and novice loop.
