Opotiki is the best place for seafood farming to the export market according to the chairman of Bay Connections John Cronin talking about the outcomes for the Opotiki Harbour Development project.

John Cronin and his group visualise the completion of the aquaculture project in the Opotiki Harbour will begin to export foodstuff to the value of $250,000 million by 2025.

There is only one aquaculture farm in Opotiki to date, but it is expected this the farms would increase in numbers in due time. John Cronin said research has shown that the Bay of Plenty is a great area for aquaculture farming.
