Māori Maps is a brand new digital platform which provides a nationwide database of ancestral marae, with maps, directions, photos, information and contact details at the tip of your fingers.

The redeveloped platform features maps and photos of various Marae around the motu, taken by photographer Krzysztof Pfeiffer. Visitors can access sites or services run by marae and find out key information.

As well as this, the site provides information on internet connectivity provided by Chorus.

As stated by it’s founders, Māori Maps aims to help to connect Māori descendants with their marae, and enable visitors to make appropriate contact with these centres of culture – in particular, linking Māori youth with their ancestral identity.
