Over one thousand people attended the Ngāti Awa festival which was held over the weekend in Whakatāne.

The Ngāti Awa festival was run by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa and showcased local talent here in the Bay. According to Thomas Ngamoki, he says that the festival was a really good day out not just for the whole of Whakatane, but for the whanau to together and identify who we are as Ngati Awa.
