According to Karen Koopu, media should pronounce the Maori language properly after she watched a series of the documentary First Crossing on Television One.

Karen Koopu said she was well into the documentary when she realised the  people were talking about the Motu river and Maraenui but the pronunciation was terrible.

Koopu believes media people must speak the Maori Language properly, don’t degenerate a noble language that belongs to this country.
