Whakatāne Ki Mua (a Whakatāne District Council Community Vision Project) is teaming up with Whakatāne Museum & Arts to deliver the Mana Wahine Whakatāne 2018/19 creative community project. Ministry of Women Suffragette 125 Community Funding has been secured and local Tūhoe artist, Te Haunui Tuna is delivering the first of our planned community murals at Clifton Road Carpark alongside a small group of local youth this week. This is an exciting opportunity for our nga hine to be mentored throughout the creation and development of a public mural with an important message that affirms female empowerment and mana wahine through creative expression and story-telling.
