Changes to the Kāinga Whenua loan scheme that were announced recently will make it easier to build on Māori land that has multiple owners, according to Waiariki MP Te Ururoa Flavell.
The scheme which allows Kiwibank to provide the loans and Housing New Zealand will insure them.
Te Ururoa Flavell says that the Kāinga Whenua loan is secured only against the house, not against the house and land as with most home loans.
