This week we were joined by Jodi from the NZ Blood Service. In her korero Jodi explained what NZ Blood is doing and the need to increase blood donor participation.

Blood is a currency to continued life for most people especially those with cancer who have undergone chemotherapy where blood transfusion is necessary for a prolonged time-frame or as required.

Jodi notes that there is no immediate remedy to encourage people to become blood donors other than being persistent. She suggests perhaps school participation is a way of raising awareness for the next generation to become blood donors without fear of injections.
