Rotorua Police are looking into the head injuries of a 9 month old baby whom is currently in Auckland Starship Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police say an Ambulance was called at 6:15pm Friday evening when a member of the family went to a neighbour to get help for the baby.

Police said the baby was under the care of an extended family member, so a probe into how the baby received the head wounds to decide what action is still to be taken.
