Te Waiariki MP Te Ururoa Flavell is disappointed with the bargaining issue between the Government and Skycity to build a conference complex in Auckland.

Skycity will finance the $400 million required to build the new conference complex for the Government. Skycity in return will be able to extend the number of their gaming machines to 230 and gaming tables to 52 and extend their licence to 2048.

The Maori Party though are concerned at the impact Skycity have on the low income gamblers believing they can make money. But predictions are that the poor people will become even more destitute no matter the ethnic background.

Kei te papouri te tangata torangapu o Te Waiariki a Te Ururoa Flavell i te paarematatanga o te Kawanatanga raua ko Skycity kia hanga i tetahi whare huinga taumata i Tamaki-makau-rau. Ka riro ma Skycity hei whakapau putea kia wha rau miriona tara hei te hangatanga o te whare huinga taumata hou hei te kawanatanga. Otira ka ahei a Skycity ki te whakarahi i nga mihini petipeti kia rua rau, toru tekau – me te rima tekau ma rua nga tepu petipeti, a ka whakaroroa tana raihana petipeti ki te tau rua mano wha tekau ma waru. No reira nga kupu amuamu a Te Pati Maori mo Skycity e poapoa tonu ana i te iwi pohara ki tona whare petipeti- pohehe ai he whiwhinga putea ma ratau. Engari ki nga matakite ka tua koka rawa atu te iwi pohara ahakoa momo kiri.
