My name is Sarah Hudson, I am a Māori visual artist based on Whakatāne. I am running a free after-school programme for Ngāti Awa rangatahi interested in photography, the “Wairaka Camera Club”

The programme will be Thursday afternoons for ten weeks during Term 2. Or central Whakatāne location had been provided with support from the Whakatāne Museum and Gallery.

I am looking for ten enthusiastic and artistic rangatahi aged 15-18. This course is an opportunity for creatively minded youth to learn how to build their art practice with a mātauranga Māori foundation, or through a Māori lens.

Taiohi do not need a ‘camera’ to participate in this course, but will need a device with a camera in it (phone, tablet, iPod or digital camera).

For more information, or to enroll in the Wairaka Camera Club, please email me at or flick me a message here. Spaces are limited.

Mauri ora!
