The new Whakatane Library is celebrating its first anniversary today, resulting in myriads of people visiting in just seven months.

Whakatane Council Community Service Manager Paula Chapman seen the arrival of swarms of visitors to see the artifacts and read books reaching 212,000.

The combination of the library and museum under one roof in the Whakatane Library meant a great repsonse by the community who wanted to see at first hand, items, antiquity and the clarification of the written material, architecture and carvings.
