A Rotorua family were distraught yesterday after the death of a 16month old child.

A woman left the house climbed into her vehicle and reversed down the driveway striking and killing the toddler, despite the arrival of the St John services there was no sign of life.

A report said the female relative of the child left the house not realising the child had followed, she assumed the driveway was clear of all human activity. This the fifth children to be killed in a driveway since last November.
