NGĀ ARIKI O TE KUKI AIRANI VISIT TŪTEAO MARAE, TE TEKO
As part of a tour of Aotearoa to learn more about Te Ao Maori, the Cook Island House of Ariki visited Te Teko, stopping at Tūteao Marae yesterday.
The Cook Island group of Paramount Kings and Queens, is hoping to identify the missing links in their whakapapa, through their connection with Māori and Cook Island groups around the country.
Phillipa Moses of Ngā Maihi hapū at Tūteao Marae said “having Ui Ariki Ngā Teitei o te Kuki Airani making us a part of their agenda to visit Te Teko, but more so our Marae Tūteao, is an event our hapū will remember”.
Audio below: Peter Rakanui from Ui Ariki Ngā Teitei o te Kuki Airani, details the purpose of the visit in his kōreo with Tracey Eparaimer.
