The Kiwis have confirmed Benji Marshall’s move to rugby union will prevent him from playing in this year’s league World Cup.

Marshall has not been considered for selection in an initial 17-man training squad to begin preparing for the tournament in the UK.

Tigers back Tim Simona is the only uncapped player in the squad, which only features players whose NRL sides have not made the finals. Captain Simon Mannering is one of seven Warriors players in the squad.

Tekau ma whitu nga kaitakaro kua tohua mo te kapa e whakangungu ana mo ta ratou tonamana kei ingarangi, a, ko Marshall tetahi kare i tohua.
