Whakatane Council Community Service Manager Paula Chapman says Whakatane communities should be vigilant about fallen leaves during Autumn.

Ms Paula Chapman wants people to be aware of the falling leaves as they could get blocked drains, dams and flood properties.

There are many drain outlets that could be blocked by leaves and Paula Chapman is encouraging communities every where to help gather the leaves and clear drain pipes on roads and homes, perhaps mulching the leaves for gardens.
