The Dawn Service is a major part of the tradition of ANZAC Day and harks back to the military practice of ‘standing to’ at dawn.

There will be dawn services held throughout the Eastern Bay tomorrow morning.  Below is information of where dawn services will be taking place.

Whakatane RSA

Dawn Service:  Form up at 5:30am at the Whakatane Sportfishing Club to march to Wairaka Marae.  Service commences at 6am.  Breakfast will be served at the Wairaka Marae.

Civic Service:  Form up at 8:45am at the Whakatane War Memorial Centre.  Following the Civic Service a light lunch will be served at the RSA. Open to public.  Then dance the afternoon away to the melodic sounds of Bill Kora.

Matata

Assemble at Rangitihi Marae at 5am.  Call on 5:45am

Kawerau RSA

Dawn Service:  Form up at 5:45am at Ex-Royal Navalmens Assn, then march to Recreation Centre.  Service commences at 6am.

Ruatoki

Dawn Service:  Form up at 5:35am corner of Ohotu Road, then march to Te Rewarewa Marae.  Service commences at 6am

Te Teko RSA

Assemble at RSA at 8am.  Wreath laying at War Memorial 8:30am.  Assemble at Kokohinau Marae 9am.
