Labour Weekend 2013 at the administrations of Te Roopu Waihanga Taonga o Putauaki will host the a conference of the National Maori Weavers in Kawerau.

Te Roopu Waihanga Taonga o Putauaki expect 300 weavers from around Aotearoa in Kawerau for lessons, relationships, admiration and to weave the ancient  traditions.

Kawerau kuia Mere Walker it has been her dream that this conference be held in her home town. On the Sunday there will be clothing display those weaved by experts and students in the Ron Hardie Centre which will become a whare pora.

There is no entry cost for the community, just go along and watch and look at the items being weaved by experts.
